About g.Kim

About the company:
g.KIM was established in early 2010 by owner and creative designer Grace Kim. The collection is for women who want key pieces in their wardrobe to mix and match for any occasion. Each piece is integrated with one another to create a complete wardrobe each season.
About the designer:
As a child, Denver native Grace Kim created whimsical clothing for her paper dolls and by the age of seven, she designed her first dress out of trash bags and shoes out of paper towels. As an adolescent, Grace frequented second hand stores, flea markets, and boutiques to find inspiration for her “look of the day.” Grace’s resourcefulness and ability to create something great out of eclectic pieces is a quality that remains at the heart of her design process.
Grace draws inspiration for her collections from her personal background, art, literature, history, and other cultures. Her design aesthetic is classic, clean and contemporary. With the use of seam placements and pattern manipulation, she creates interesting silhouettes and design details without compromising a classic look. She consistently strives to create clothing that is contemporary, comfortable to wear, and flatter every figure. Her timeless pieces can be worn by women of every age and body type.
The discipline Grace Kim brings to her work and to her life was developed early by her parents who encouraged academic excellence and boundless hard work. She studied at Brandeis University where she received her bachelor’s degree in sociology and legal studies. Grace Kim went on to study a year of law at New England School of Law and worked as a vice president in corporate finance. After many years of working in a corporate environment, she earned her second bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Grace Kim currently lives in Santa Cruz, California with her husband and two young daughters.
